Dr. Kenton Hokanson is the Director for the Electrophysiology Facility. He recieved his Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 2018 from the University of California, San Francisco. At Oregon State University, he oversees the Facility, carrying out experiments, consulting on funding proposals and manuscripts, and maintaining and expanding the Facility's capabilities. In his life outside of the Electrophysiology Facility, he is an instructor/advisor in Microbiology, a fairly unsuccessful gardener and an avid board game enthusiast.
Research
Kenton's research focuses on synaptic development and maturation. He has studied synaptic strengthening, release dynamics, and homeostasis in a synapses including the mouse visual system, the D. melanogaster neuromuscular junction, and stem cell-derived neurons.
